Hyderabad: Protesting against the State Government appointing Mr Medi Papaiah as Chairman of the Ambedkar Jayanthi Celebrations Committee, the United Forum for Dalith Associations, an umbrella organization of 25 dalith bodies, on Tuesday called upon the people not to utilize the tents, food and facilities provided by the government at the birth anniversary celebrations of Dr B R Ambedkar, but just pay rich tributes to the late leader at his statutes.
Speaking to the Media at the News Centre, Hyderguda, the Convener of the United Forum, Dr Vamshi Tilak alleged that the Government has wantonly appointed Nr Papaiah, a person who didn’t have respect towards Ambedkar, as convenor of the Jayanthi Celebrations Committee. The main reason behind the Dalith unions’ opposition to Mr Papaiah was that he had created disturbance at the Ambedkar Jayanthi celebrations in 2005 and insulted the late leader by tearing Ambedkar photo into pieces.
“The people should pay rich tribute to Ambedkar at his statutes throughout the state. We are requesting them not to utilize the tents, food and facilities offered at official celebrations as a token of protest”, he added.
He alleged that the Government was deliberately creating rift between Madigas and Malas to divert SC component funds for other purposes. Rs.29,000 crores of SC component funds have been diverted in the last ten years, he alleged.
The United Forum leaders, Mr Balaraju, Mr Srinivas, Mr Govardhan, Mr Battula Ramaswamy, Mr Vamshi Krishna and Mr K Yadagiri were also present.(NSS)
