Hyderabad: The special Haj flights, carrying more than 6000 pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh will commence from September 29.
A review meeting involving various government departments and organizations was held at GMR Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Thursday to look after the arrangements being made at the airport. The State Haj Committee suggested for providing various amenities to both the pilgrims and the visitors coming to airport to see off their near ones during the Haj camp 2011.
According to the schedule provided by the Saudi Arabian Airlines the first flight will take off on September 29 and the operation will continue till October 16 while the pilgrims after performing Haj will start coming back from November 11 and the last flight will land on November 30.
The GMR authorities agreed to provide facilities to the pilgrims and the visitors at the Haj Terminal at airport.
The AP state Haj committee, headed by Syed Khaleeluddin Ahmed has selected 6143 pilgrims from across the state through draw of lots, while pilgrims above 70 years of age were selected under reserved category. The committee is conducting orientation programme in Hyderabad and the district headquarters and other places. (INN)
