Hyderabad: The Union Ministry of External Affairs has announced that all the intending pilgrims above 70 years of age shall be allotted confirmed seats by the Haj Committee of India along with a companion under reserved category. All such pilgrims under this reserved category must submit copies of their valid International Passports, without which their applications will not be accepted.
Janab Syed Kaleeluddin Ahmed Chairman of the AP State Haj Committee in a press release here said that this provision has been made from the Haj 2011. He requested all the intending pilgrims of 70 years and above to avail of the facility. The name of the companion will have to be mentioned on the Haj Application Forms on a format in the shape of rubber stamp to be given by the Haj Committee. This form should have to be signed by the applicant and the Executive Officer of the Haj Committee. The Chairman further clarified that in the case of ladies the companion should be a mehram only.
The chairman further said that the Haj Committee of India has already declared that the applicants rejected during Haj 2010 on account of PNR will be confirmed besides all those applicants whose applications were not selected during the past three years. However all such applicants under reserved categories must submit the Passport copies along with their applications before April 30. No application without Passports under reserved categories will be accepted. (NSS)
