Hyderabad: The Parigi MLA, Mr Hareeshwar Reddy, has strongly believed that the Telugu Desam Party politburo would not take any action against the senior party leader, Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy, who was fighting for the cause of separate Telangana State.
Speaking to mediapersons in the Telugu Desam Legislature Party office here on Tuesday, Mr Hareeshwar Reddy said that he would follow Dr Nagam in the event of his removal from the TDP. He also disclosed that some 20 to 30 former legislators and important party functionaries were behind Dr Reddy.
Stating that they would not keep quiet if the party chief took any hasty step against Dr Nagam, Mr Hareeshwar Reddy said that he would meet Mr Chandrababu Naidu and try to convince him that the party would lose heavily if Dr Nagam was expelled from the party. He also made it clear that neither they would float a new party nor would they join any other party but they would decisively fight for achievement of separate Telangana State.
Appealing to Mr Chandrababu Naidu to reconsider his decision in the matter of initiating action against Dr Nagam Reddy, the Parigi MLA hoped that the issue will be solved if the party president called Dr Nagam and spoke to him. Asserting that Dr Nagam was not agitating for selfish interests, he said that the former was sincerely fighting for the cause of separate Telangana. (NSS)
