Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader and Siddipet MLA, Mr Harish Rao, has charged the senior Congress leader and Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Water Supply, Mr K Jana Reddy, with keeping mum on the burning Telangana issue after being inducted into the Kiran Kumar Reddy Cabinet.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Friday, Mr Harish Rao said that the ruling Congress party and the State government do not think that Telangana region with four crores of population was part of Andhra Pradesh. Pointing out that the Union government had allocated Rs 353 crores to the State for drinking water supply, he said that the State government did not allocate even a single rupee for the Telangana region for drinking water supply. He said there was no need to specifically talk about the fluoride water affected people in Nalgonda district.
Stating that the people of Mahbubnagar district were suffering for want of drinking water supply, the TRS leader lashed out at the government for doing nothing for them. The government’s failure to allocate funds for the water-starved Telangana region even at the height of the agitation clearly proves its hostile attitude towards the region and people of Telangana. “Does the government think there was no water problem in Telangana,” he asked.
Criticising Seemandhra leaders for comparing the TRS supremo, Mr K Chandrasekhara Rao, with most dreaded Al Quaida chief Bin Laden, Mr Harish Rao said that the Seemandhra leaders, who denied justice to Telangana and its people are Bin Ladens and not the TRS chief who was sincerely fighting for separate Telangana. He also questioned the United Andhra advocate and CPI-M leader, Mr B V Raghavulu, the Telugu Desam Party supremo, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, and the Lok Satta Party president, Dr Jayaprakash Narayan, who carries Statute Book in arms, do not see gross injustice being done to Telangana?
Lambasting the government for diverting Telangana funds for Andhra region, Mr Harish Rao said that while Telangana people were groaning under several problems, the Andhraites were enjoying everything.
The TRS leader also warned the government that they would storm the Secretariat if the Chief Minister, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy, realize the mistake and withdraw the order diverting the entire Central water funds for Andhra region within a week. He also demanded that the Rural Water Supply Minister, Mr Jana Reddy, to respond to the issue immediately. (NSS)
