New Delhi: Mr Botsa Satyanarayana, the new chief of the PCC has said that the decision of the Congress High Command on the Telangana issue was final and that he and all other Congressmen would abide by it.

In an interview to a Telugu TV Channel, Mr Satyanarayana said that he would work as a coordinator for the government and the party. He has claimed that he had good relations with the Telangana leaders. When asked about the PRP, he said that they are also Congressmen and would be given the same importance as other partymen. Replying to a question of his continuing in two posts, he said that the High Command would decide on that.

Responding to a question on Congress party’s preparedness for the ensuing local body elections, he said that his party would win. On the no-confidence motion, he said that his party knew how to face it. He has reminded that the TDP had no numerical strength to dislodge the government. On the ticklish fee reimbursement issue, Mr Satyanarayana said that the government was making payments as per the directions of the Supreme Court.

Strongly criticizing the decision of the High Command to make Mr Botcha Satyanarayana as the PCC Chief, senior Congress leader and MP, Mr Hanumanth Rao, while talking to several news channels, has questioned how they could show their faces to the people of Telangana as the party leadership made Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy as the Chief Minister, who was from the Rayalaseema region and now Mr Botcha as the PCC Chief from the Andhra region. He said sarcastically that the Congress High Command appears to have done an experiment by changing the tradition of giving the PCC post to the Telangana region when the Chief Minister was from Andhra. In this situation, how could the Congress Telangana leaders move about in the region in the volatile situation, he asked.

Faulting the High Command’s decision, Mr Rao questioned the wisdom of the Union minister, Mr S Jaipal Reddy, and the MP, Mr K Keshav Rao, in recommending the name of Mr Satyanarayana to the party leadership. He said that some Congress leaders have misled the party president, Ms Sonia Gandhi.
