Hyderabad: Justice Ashutosh Mohunta of the AP high court on Tuesday restored the security cover to late chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s daughter Sharmila and her husband Anil Kumar.
The judge made this interim order while hearing a petition filed by the couple challenging the withdrawal of security to them. Sharmila charged the state with acting with vengeance ever since her brother Jaganmohan Reddy moved out of the Congress and started his own political party, YSR Congress.
When the matter came up for hearing on Tuesday, senior counsel Vedula Venkata Ramana told the court that Sharmila is the daughter of late CM YSR and Anil is her husband and that the state withdrew their security in an abrupt manner without even giving them a notice.
The judge while restoring the security to the applicants, issued a notice to the state to explain its case.
The judge also extended the interim order restoring the security of Kuncham Venkata Subba Reddy, the Proddutur based leader of Rayalaseema Rashtra Samithi. He charged the state with unlawfully withdrawing the security given to him only with a view to disable him from actively campaigning for Jagan in the ongoing byelection process.
In a separate case, Justice G Rohini of the A P High Court directed the authorities not to reject the nomination of B V Karuna Kumar Reddy of Kokatam village in Kadapa district till the authorities decide his grievance about deletion of his name from the voters’ list. The judge also directed the authorities to act within two days on the applications filed by Gundluri Veera Pratap Reddy and five others who challenged the deletion of their names from the voters’ list in Kadapa district.
