Hyderabad, Feb.18 (NSS): The Hyderabad Union of Journalists (HUJ) on Friday severely condemned the barbaric attack by police on journalists who went to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation office for covering news as part of their legitimate duty.

In a pressnote here, the HUJ vice-president, Mr Chaluvadi Vijayananda Rao, has termed the police brutal attack on journalists Mr Sateesh Kumar, Ms Spandana and others as inhuman, barbaric and undemocratic as the scribes went to the GHMC to cover news as part of their legitimate duties.

Stating that Ms Spandana, who was grievously injured in the police attack and undergoing treatment in Mediciti Hospital, the HUJ leader urged the State government to bear her medical expenses. He also demanded that the erring police inspector and constables be placed under suspension immediately and initiate criminal proceedings after registering cases against them. (NSS)
