Hyderabad goes haywire due to Million March

Hyderabad, March 10th: Normal life in the State capital went haywire on Thursday as unprecedented vehicle traffic restrictions were imposed by the city police in connection with the Million March being organised by the Telangana Political JAC in pursuance of the demand for introduction of a Bill in Parliament for carving out a separate State.

The citizens, especially employees working in various government offices, Public Sector undertakings and multi-national companies were subjected to untold hardships due to the road blocks created by the security personnel at various points all over the twin cities.

Despite carrying identification cards, the employees were prevented from going to their respective offices and forced to trek long distances in lanes and by-lanes. Bus commuters faced nightmarish experience with the APSRTC and Setwin buses forced to take circuitous routes and forced to be caught in traffic jams at many places.

Though the organizers of the Million March and the security personnel assured that students taking examinations would have no problem, the parents and their wards had to face numerous hurdles to reach the examination centers, many of them very late.

Even the business establishments were forced to pull down shutters and the main shopping areas wore a deserted look. Even the cinema theatres remained closed at many places due to the traffic restrictions.
