Hyderabad: The new PCC Chief Mr. Botsa Satyanarayana has said that he would abide by the decision of the party High Command on the Telangana issue.
Talking to the media in a meet-the-press organized by the AP Union of Working Journalists on Wednesday, he said he would inform factual position of the issue to the party leadership. He said Congress party would announce its stand only after all other parties make their stand clear on the Telangana issue.
Mr. Botsa said it would be his aim to restore the past eminence to the party. He has asserted that he would strive to take every one along with him. Stating that discipline was most important, he said he would try to enforce it. There should not be any misunderstandings between party leaders, he said. He has admitted that the party was thrown into a crisis after the death of Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. He said Mr. Rosaiah could handle that difficult situation because of his vast experience. He has also admitted that Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy’s departure was a loss to the party.
Mr. Botsa has stated that he would make efforts to ensure that the fruits of welfare schemes reached the targeted people. He has also said that the party would bring pressure on the government to ensure that all the promises made to the people were fulfilled. Admitting that there were financial problems, he however said that he would make efforts that none of the welfare programmes was stopped.
When asked about MP Mr. Harsha Kumar’s allegations on him, he said it was his opinion and there was nothing wrong in expressing one’s opinion. It may be recalled that Mr. Harsha Kumar has called Mr. Botsa a highly corrupt politician and said the Congress party would be distancing itself from the weaker sections because of selecting him to lead the party in the state.
On the eighth chapter of the Sri Krishna Committee report, Mr. Botsa said he did not know the contents of that chapter. Replying a question, he said it was impossible to manage the media on the Telangana issue. Stating that the centre had clarity on the Telangana issue, he said possibly meaning the TDP chief Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu, that some parties had taken a U turn after accepting Telangana statehood.
