Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Mahila Wing president Shobha Hymavathi on Tuesday criticized the state government for issuing GO providing additional relief for those women, who were being sexually exploited and abused.
Talking to media persons at TDP Bhavan, she said that the government instead of taking proper security measures for protecting women has tried to wash its hands off the responsibility by increasing compensation for the exploited women.
“What is the use of increasing compensation for women when day by day violence against them is increasing manifold,” the TDP leader questioned.
She alleged Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy has totally failed in checking violence against, and sexual exploitation of women.
Ms Hymavathi demanded that the state government establish Fast Track Courts to deal with violence against women, besides the setting up of more Women’s Police stations.
She also advised the government to strengthen the law to prevent violence and sexual abuse against women. (INN)
