Hyderabad: The state government will seek to promote Information Technology training further by targeting college students and entice more investments to the industry by constructing an Animation and Gaming Tower. A special Committee on Information Technology would be constituted shortly to devise measures to provide suitable training to the students in the IT field at the college level itself.
Minister of Information Technology Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Monday said that he has already directed officials take the said issue seriously and implement the programme in letter and spirit.
Mr Lakshmaiah told media persons at the state Secretariat that a decision to this effect was taken at a review meeting on IT services in his chambers earlier in the day.
He also deplored that lakhs of graduates, after completion of MCA, Engineering, MBA and other courses, were struggling without proper employment as they were denied suitable training in the IT sector.
Once the requisite training was imparted to the students in their colleges itself, as part of their syllabus, they would find no difficulty in getting absorbed in any IT institution as there was lot of scope for more and more IT companies coming to Hyderabad and other two tier cities in Andhra Pradesh, the Minister revealed.
The state government has also decided to construct an Animation and Gaming Tower to further improve the employment prospects, Mr Lakshmaiah revealed.
The Minister, after the lengthy review meeting with the authorities concerned, is believed to have left strict instructions for construction of the proposed Animation and Gaming Tower which would attract IT companies to set up their units here.
Laboratories and other allied facilities would be part of the said Tower, which the Minister hoped would be helpful to enlist the support of new IT companies.
Around 10 acres of land in Gachchibowli at Rayadurg would be allotted to construct the Animation Tower under a joint venture with the APIIC partnering with a private company.
Another 25 acres in Maheshwaram in Ranga Reddy district would be allocated to the IT companies engaged in Animation and Gaming business.
The Minister also directed the officials to invite applicants for developing the proposed Electrical and Hardware Park coming up at Maheshwaram.
Similarly, he asked officials for taking suitable steps to be taken to develop the IT companies in the two-tier cities and then discuss with their representatives and motivate them to join the newly formed special economic zones.
Mr Lakshmaiah has also decided to hold a special review meeting in Visakhapatnam on June 22 to discuss issues related to the IT companies.
