Hyderabad: The Minister for Major Industries Dr J Geetha Reddy took a dig at the opposition TDP party for demanding a Joint Legislative Committee probe into the allotment of lands to the industrialists in the name of SEZs.
Stoutly rejecting the TDP demand, the Minister pointed out that it was during the regime of Mr Chandrababu Naidu that the SEZs were encouraged. She said that Mr Chandrababu Naidu, as Chief Minister, had addressed letters to Mr Rahul Bajaj and other industrialists inviting them to start SEZs in the State and offering lands. Does it mean ‘development’ when they do it, and ‘corruption’ when we do it, she asked.
The minister pointed out that the Government was prepared to make a statement on the issue and the House could discuss the issue after the statement. She said that the Chief Minister had a review meeting yesterday on the issue, and the members might have seen it in the media. (NSS)
