Hyderabad: The TDP senior leader and Politburo member, Mr Yanamala Rama Krishnudu, has alleged that the YSR Congress chief, Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, was anti-BC.
In a statement here on Thursday, Mr Rama Krishnudu pointed out to the statement of Mr Jagan that there was no need for 60.55 reservations to Backward Classes and that all the parties should come to a consensus and hold the elections with less tan 50 per cent reservations was a clear indication that he was against the BCs. He stated that the TDP was condemning the statement of Mr Jagan that BCs did not need even 34 per cent of reservations as per law. He stated on the other hand, there was need for the Central and State governments to amend the Constitution and protect the reservations that the BCs had as per law. He stated that the TDP and BC organizations were demanding that the Constitution be amended so as to give reservations to BCs as per the ratio of their populations. He said that in this situation, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy talking as if BC reservations need not be legalized had shown clearly his anti-BC stand, Mr Yanamala added.
Mr Rama Krishnudu has stated that giving BCs their share of power was as important as local body elections. He stated that the Assembly should pass a unanimous resolution protecting the prevailing 34 per cent reservation to the BCs and send it to the Centre. The State government also should bring pressure on the Centre and protect the rights of the BCs by getting the Constitution amended in Parliament.
