Hyderabad: Brushing aside criticism levelled against his party president for seeking recourse in the Supreme Court, YSR Congress Party spokesperson Gattu Ramachandra Rao said that Mr YS Jaganmohan Reddy had filed a petition against the High Court’s directive to the Central Bureau of Investigation to probe into his assets as the High Court had ignored some of the directions issued in this connection by the Supreme Court.

Talking to media persons at Jubilee hills, Mr Ramachandra Rao said that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy had filed the petition in the Apex Court to protect his basic rights.

He said that as per the Supreme Court guidelines, that the Courts should not accept petitions which are politically motivated and filed to settle personal scores.

“However, the High Court accepted the petition and ordered the CBI to probe into Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s assets, violating his rights,” Mr Ramachandra Rao stated.

“As the High Court’s directive was against his basic rights, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy had approached the Supreme Court seeking recourse,” the YSR Congress Party spokesperson said.

He emphasised that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy is however ready for any kind of probe and would extend full cooperation in any investigations.

Mr Ramachandra Rao also alleged that Textile and Handlooms Minister P Shankar Rao filed the petition against Mr Jaganmohan Reddy following the directions from Congress president Sonia Gandhi.(INN)
