Hyderabad: The Congress MLC, Mr Jupudi Prabhakara Rao, has asserted that the Kadapa MP and YSR Congress Party president, Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, will be chief minister of the State in the near future in spite of any number of conspiracies hatched by the Congress high command to suppress him politically.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Saturday, Mr Prabhakara Rao demanded that the miscreants, who felled the statues of Dr B R Ambedkar and Jyotirao Phule in the Hyderabad Central University, be brought to book immediately and punished with an iron hand. He also demanded that the governing council of the University own moral responsibility for the vandalism.

Meanwhile, the Rayachoti MLA, Mr Srikanth Reddy, said the Congress and Telugu Desam party leaders had filed false cases against Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy with political vendetta.

Speaking at the Assembly media point on Saturday, Mr Srikanth Reddy made it clear that the Kadapa MP went to Supreme Court not because he was afraid of CBI investigation into his assets, but with an intention to bring the issue to the notice of the people of the State.

Mr Srikanth Reddy lashed out at the Congress and TDP leaders for resorting to “mud slinging” at Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy as they could not stomach his growing popularity. He also asked how the Enadu chief, Mr Ramoji Rao, who reportedly sustained losses to the tune of Rs 1,800 crores could invest Rs 2,500 crores in the Nimesh company? He contended that because Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy was a successful businessman, other companies were coming forward to invest their money in his companies.
