Hyderabad: The State BJP has opined that the ‘Jana Lok Pal’ would become a hangman’s rope to the UPA government’s neck. It described the Centre bowing to agree on Lok Pal bill as a great victory to Anna Hazare.
Speaking to the media at its office here on Saturday, Mr NVSS Prabhakar alleged that huge corruption took place during the regimes of UPA-1, UPA-2 and in ‘Jalayagnam’ in the State. He said that many doubts were raised as the Centre has sent Mr Raja, who was involved in 2G-Spectrum, to Jail and his two followers dying under mysterious circumstances. He also said that 12 Union Ministers were facing serious allegations.
He said that the CAG, Supreme Court and Lokayuktha have found fault with the State government’s ‘Jalayagnam’ and said that the Chief Minister Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy extending EPCs time limit was giving raise to many doubts. He made it clear that the BJP would keep these issues in front of Lok Pal if the Parliament adopts the bill in June. He said that inquiry should be held first on the scams in Andhra Pradesh because it stands first in alphabetical order, and it will be hanging rope on the State ministers.
Finding fault with the selection process of VCs, Mr Prabhakar said that it was not correct on the part of the government to select a person, who was having a record of suspensions, as a VC. He alleged that the selection of VCs was done in Gandhi Bhavan instead of Secretariat. He also alleged that the Raj Bhavan has been taking the decisions, which have to be taken by the Gandhi Bhavan. He alleged that the selection of VCs was not done according to the rules, and asked as to what the search committees in the state were doing. (NSS)
