Hyderabad: The Rayalaseema Congress leader and former minister, Mr J C Diwakar Reddy, has said the party high command was in a feeling that it should not bifurcate the State though it did not say so directly. He said the high command admitted that the Centre’s statement on December 9, 2009 was a mistake.
Speaking to the media at the Assembly media point on Wednesday, Mr JC said the Seemandhra public representatives’ Delhi tour was successful. He said late chief minister Dr YSR had never made any statement in the Assembly in favor of separate Telangana. He also challenged that he would cut his nose and ears if any one proved that Dr YSR spoke in favor of separate Telangana.
Mr Diwakar Reddy said the Telangana Congress elected representatives landed in a deep crisis by resigning to their posts. They went far away by submitting resignations and the Seemandhra leaders have to bring them back by sacrificing something for them, he added. Stating that the Congress leaders were political leaders and not social servants, he said political leaders always expect positions and would do anything for sake of power and pelf.
Responding to a query, Mr Reddy said the Centre has to provide legitimate rights to the Telangana region before 2014 general elections. Stating that he too perused Water Tribunal report, Mr JC said the Rayalaseema region would not get water if the State was divided and it was possible to procure water from other regions if the State remained united. The State was already facing inter-State water disputes and it will be more difficult to get water if the State was divided, he said, adding it would be possible to share the resources only when the State remained united.
