Hyderabad: Hinting that the agitational approach would be more effective than building pressure on the Centre on the separate Telangana demand, former Endowments Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Sunday appealed to leaders from the region not to accept any posts offered by the government.
The former minister also called upon Telangana leaders to intensify their agitations for separate statehood instead of going to New Delhi to mount pressure on the Centre.
“Accepting posts offered by the government would send a wrong message to the people and the High Command. This would lead them to assume that we are interested only in posts and our loyalties will be misread,” Mr Krishna Rao told media persons after emerging out of a meeting with Telangana MPs, MLAs, Ministers and other leaders at Exhibition Society Office.
He further alleged that the government was offering posts to Telangana leaders so that the Telangana agitation could be watered down. “If the Telangana leaders accept the posts offered by the government, either in the state or at the Centre, this would send a wrong message to the people over the leaders’ commitment towards the separate statehood demand,” Mr Krishna Rao pointed out.
He also asked the Telangana leaders to submit resignation from their posts to mount even further pressure on the Centre.
The former minister demanded that the government stand by to the statement made by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on December 9, 2009 and make efforts towards in that direction.(INN)
