Hyderabad: Demanding that the Congress high command take decision on the decades’ old Telangana issue immediately, the party senior leader, Mr G Venkatswamy, has said that he was happy on the removal of his name from the Congress Working Committee (CWC). He also opined that it was not correct to remove Dr K Keshav Rao, who was fighting for the sake of Telangana, from the CWC.
Talking to the media at his residence here on Saturday, Mr Venkatswamy alleged that the party high command has replaced him by a corrupt man in the CWC. Opining that the party high command has removed his name from the Congress Working Committee fearing that he may raise the Telangana issue again, he said that the leaders who were demanding separate Telangana have become untouchables to the AICC. He alleged that some influential persons lodged a complaint with the high command against him and saw his name was deleted from the list.
Alleging that the AICC rendered injustice to the State, Mr Venkatswamy described the new CWC as ‘old wine in new bottle’. Avoiding questions on Ms Sonia Gandhi, Mr Venkatswamy said that he would show his strength and grill Ms Sonia Gandhi again at an appropriate time.
Exuding confidence that the Congress alone can create Telangana, the senior Congress leader said that the Telangana movement will not be stopped by anyone this time. He felt that Egypt like situation will erupt in the region for Telangana State as the people keen on Telangana State. He strongly felt that the high command would take a decision on Telangana in May this year.(NSS)
