Karat seeks Babu’s support to fight Mamata

Hyderabad: Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Prakash Karat on Monday sought the support of the Telugu Desam party in the fight against the ‘dictatorial style’ of functioning of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Bannerjee.

Stating that the law and order situation in West Bengal has totally collapsed after Mamata Bannerjee took over as the Chief Minister, Mr Karat said that the Left activists were coming under increasing physical attacks by the Trinamool Party activists.

Talking to media persons after a meeting with Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu at his residence, the CPM leader condemned the attacks on the Left leaders and activst. Trinamool Congress activists are behind these attacks, he alleged.

Mr Karat said that violence was the order of day in West Bengal and government machinery has come to standstill.

The CPM leader further said that the Trinamool activists not only resort to attacks and picketing the government offices and targeting the officials.

The veteran Communist said that he met Mr Naidu seeking support for the national level agitation against Mamata Banerjee’s style of dictatorial functioning and to protest against the failure of law and order situation in West Bengal.(INN)
