Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday called on Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy at his residence along with TRS MLAs Etela Rajender and Harishwar Rao.
According to sources, the meeting of TRS chief with Jana Reddy assumes importance in the wake of Centre proposing to announce a special financial package or Regional Councils for the development of the region instead of agreeing to Telangana state formation.
Sources say that KCR told the Minister that if the Centre announces any package or councils instead of agreeing for a separate Telangana state, the region would become a hotbed for agitations.
He is believed to have asked the Telangana Congress leaders to resign to their posts to mount pressure on the Centre to announce its decision on controversial statehood issue.
KCR assured the Telangana Congress leaders that Telangana Political Joint Action committee would make efforts for their re-election without fielding anybody in their constituencies.
Later Mr Jana Reddy spoke to MPs Gutta Sukhender Reddy, Komatireddy Rajagopal and G Vivek over telephone.
MP Gutta Sukhender Reddy is believed to have told Mr Jana Reddy that the Congress party should strengthened in the region along with continuing the agitation for the statehood.
He is told KCR that the Telangana Congress leaders would discuss the deadline set for their resignations by the TPJAC and decide their future course of action plan.(INN)
