Hyderabad: Stating that she and Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao are ready to sacrifice their lives for the cause of Telangana statehood, Medak MP Vijayashanti on Tuesday called upon youth not to resort to extreme steps in desperation over the delay.
Addressing the State Mahila meeting at the Telangana Bhavan organised under the aegis of TRS Women wing, the former actress also alleged that Seemandhra leaders hatched a conspiracy to treat Telangana people as bonded labour and not showing love and affection.
Vijayashanti further alleged that the Seemandhra leaders, in order to protect their properties and interests, are leading the integrated Andhra Pradesh agitation.
She called upon women to come forward to participate in the agitation and play crucial role in the politics.
Speaking on the occasion, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao called upon women to play a crucial role in the Telangana employees’ general strike, proposed to begin from August 17.
Addressing the gathering, KCR lauded the women’s role in politics despite it being a male dominated sphere.
He asked the men to recognise the hidden talent among women and encourage them to join politics instead of confining them to kitchens.
The TRS chief called upon women to make the Telangana Students’ Joint Action Committee bandh a grand success by participating in large number on August 10.
KCR also repeated the earlier demand that Union Home Minister P Chidambaram honour the promise made to Telangana people on December 9, 2009. (INN)
