Hyderabad: The YSR Congress Party on Thursday strongly condemned Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for trying to pin the blame of the losses incurred by the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation on former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
Talking to media persons at the party office, YSR Congress Party official spokesman Vasireddy Padma said that Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy’s attempts to pin the blame for the sorry state of affairs in the APSRTC on Dr YSR were condemnable.
She added that the former chief minister had implemented all welfare schemes for poor and downtrodden people without increasing fares and fresh taxes. “How can the Chief Minister say that the losses suffered by State Road Transport Corporation were due to the fares not being increased by Dr YSR? The former chief minister was well known for managing financial resources well without knocking backbone of poor and middle class people,” Ms Padma stated.
She pointed out that 40 lakh houses were constructed for the poor during the tenure of YSR and 80 lakh pensions were given to needy.
The party spokesperson also criticised the Chief Minister for finding fault in the YSR schemes and for stating that these were costing state Exchequer dearly.
“If the Chief Minister is really committed to implement the former chief minister’s schemes, he should not have made such serious remarks against him and projected the schemes in a shabby manner,” Ms Padma pointed out.
She asked the Chief Minister to make his stand clear on implementing YSR schemes and programmes.(INN)
