Hyderabad: Several leaders including the Chief Minister, Mr K Kiran Kumar Reddy and the TDP Chief, Mr Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday garlanded the statue of Babu Jagjeevan Ram at Basheerbagh cross roads, and paid tributes to the late leader on the occasion of his 104th birth anniversary.
The birth anniversary celebrations were officially held at Basheerbagh by Babu Jagjeevan Ram Birthday celebrations committee.
Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy, Mr Chandrababu Naidu, the BJP State President, Mr G Kishan Reddy, the TRS floor leader, Me Etela Rajender, Ministers, Dr P Shanker Rao, Mr Danam Nagender, Mr Pitani Satyanarayana, PCC President, Mr D Srinivas, MPs, Mr G Venkata Swamy, Mr Anjan Kumar Yadav, Mr Nama Nageshwar Rao, Mr Nandi Yellaiah, GHMC Mayor, Mrs Banda Kartheeka Reddy, MRPS president, Mr Manda Krishna Madiga and the Telangana People’s Front Convener, Balladeer Gaddar were among the leaders who paid tributes to Babu Jagjeevan Ram on the occasion.
When the Chief Minister reached the venue, the MRPS members registered protest by shouting slogans “CM Go Back”. They also raised slogans demanding categorization of S Cs. Police swung into action and controlled the protestors who were rushing towards the CM.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Balladeer Gaddar said that Dalits and downtrodden sections should stand in front row in Telangana movement. Reminding that the S C classification issue was pending for the last 14 years, he urged the Government for classification of S Cs immediately. He also recalled the services of Babu Jagheevan Ram for the uplift of the downtrodden sections in the country. He said the Dalit leaders should get inspiration from the late leader and strive for betterment of their society.
Mr Etela Rajender said that Dalits would get political power only after Telangana state was carved out. The separate Telangana State should be carved out immediately, he added. He called upon the down trodden sections to participate in the ongoing agitation for separate Telangana state. (NSS)
