Hyderabad: The TDP senior leader and former minister, Mr Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, has alleged that the State government has created a record in imposing taxes.

Addressing the media at NTR Trust Bhavan here on Monday, Mr Somireddy said there was no response from the government though cloth merchants opposed imposition of 4% VAT on them. Recalling the decision of withdrawal of 4% VAT imposed on Cloth merchants in Tamilnadu when the former opposed it, he said the State government has only left the head to impose the tax. The Kiran Kumar Reddy government was showing stars to the people of the State, he said and added that the people would show the stars to Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy if the elections were held tomorrow.

He urged the State government to withdraw the decision of imposing 4% VAT against the cloth merchants immediately without going to image game.
