Hyderabad: The Chief Minister, Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday directed the officials concerned to take necessary steps for the completion of works of basic amenities in the Secondary Schools taken up under “Rashtriya Madhyamika Siksha Abhiyan” (RMSA), by August 15.
According to a CMO release, the Chief Minister discussed the issue with the CMO Officials today and made several suggestions for speeding up the same. Works costing Rs.518.5 crores for the creation of basic amenities in the 1,656 Secondary Schools under “Rashtriya Madhyamika Siksha Abhiyan” (RMSA) are going on a brisk pace in the State.
The Chief Minister will be the Chairman of the Governing Council of the State Level Committee. The Minister for Secondary Education and the Chief Secretary to Government will be the Co-Chairmen and the Secretary to Government (Education) will be the member-Secretary of the Council along with six other members. Apart from this, there will be an Executive Committee and a Technical Support Group under the Chairmanship of Secretary to Govt., Secondary Education at the State level. At District Level, there will be a Managing Committee under the Chairman of District Collector and a School Management and Development Committee under the Chairmanship of Head Master. Besides, the School Building Construction Committee, School Academic Committee, Parents and Teachers Association will supervise these works.
Under the scheme, 6 rooms will be constructed in every School (2 Class rooms, 1 Science Laboratory, 1 Computer Lab, 1 Craft Room, 1 Library Hall). A sum of Rs.31.31 lakhs would be spent for each School. Apart from this facilities like separate toilet blocks for boys and girls and drinking water would be created under the scheme. The works of providing toilet blocks and drinking water facilities will be handed over to the Project Director of the State Water and Sanitation Mission. (NSS)
