Kiran urges centre to declare Aqua culture as agriculture

Hyderabad: The Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, has requested the Union government to declare Aqua Culture on par with Agriculture to get Income Tax and other benefits like Insurance, Credit Support and so on to fish farmers.

Mr Arun Yadav, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Industries, called on the Chief Minister here today at Secretariat. The Union Minister complimented the Chief Minister and the State government for doing well in the shrimp culture in the State and also informed that much more scope was there to do in the field of Aqua Culture. During the discussions, the Chief Minister requested the Union Minister to declare the Aqua Culture on par with Agriculture.

The Chief Minister also agreed to extend electric lines to the areas of fish production clusters where ongoing schemes are there in the State.

Mr P. Krishnaiah, Chief Executive Officer, National Fisheries Development Board, and Mr N. Sridhar, Additional Secretary to Chief Minister, were also present.
