New Delhi: The Chief Minister Mr. N. Kirankumar Reddy has met the Congress president Ms. Sonia Gandhi and was closeted with her for more than half an hour. He is reported to have discussed the party’s prospects in the Kadapa and Pulivendula by elections with her. The Chief Minister is believed to have assured Ms. Gandhi that the party would easily sail through the elections despite the presence of the YSR Congress and TDP in the fray. He has reportedly told her that the welfare programmes taken up by the Congress party under her leadership would stand the party in good stead in the elections.
Mr. Reddy has earlier met Mr. Ahmed Patel, advisor to Ms. Gandhi and Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad, AICC leader in charge of state affairs. The by- elections was the main topic for discussion with them also.
Mr. Reddy will be meeting union Energy Minister Mr. Sushilkumar Shinde and request him to provide extra power to the state in view of the lean season of summer. He is also likely to pursue with the central government, the state’s demand that the Polavaram project be treated as a National Project. The Chief Minister who came here on Tuesday night, spent a busy day on Wednesday. (NSS)
