Hyderabad: Kothagudem Thermal Power Station Stage-VI (1X500MW) was synchronised with grid at 12.09 hours on March 30. Further tests are under progress.
The unit will attain full load of capacity of 500MW after carrying out required tests, rectifications and so on by June 30 and the commercial operation of the unit will be declared after required tests including performance acceptance test. Synchronization of unit will help in adding additional 500 MW i.e. 12 MU to the State grid in the two to three months and provide much needed relief to the State.
As a part of capacity addition programme, the APGenco has taken up 500MW Kothagudem Thermal Power Station stage-VI at Paloncha in Khammam district as an expansion project adjacent to the Kothagudem stage-V. The raw water required for the project was supplied from Kinnerasani reservoir. The required coal of 2.31 million tones per annum for this Plant is linked from Mahanadi Coal Fields in Orissa.
The supply, erection, testing and commissioning of boiler, TG Package, electrical and C&I was awarded to Messrs BHEL and Balance of Plant to Messrs BGR Energy Systems limited. The zero date commenced on February 22, 2007. The total estimated cost of the project is Rs 2,325 crores.
