Hyderabad: Alleging that the ruling Congress party and the main Opposition Telugu Desam party entered into match-fixing, the Left parties have demanded that the State government immediately set up Joint Legislature Committee or House Committee on land allotments and punish the culprits with an iron hand.

Speaking at the Assembly media point here on Saturday, the CPM MLA, Mr Julakanti Ranga Reddy, alleged that both the ruling and main Opposition parties were making allegations against each other but preventing a discussion on any issue in the House. He said that the Deputy Speaker, Mr Nadendla Manohar, has miserably failed to control the erratic members and in making the government answer on the demands of the Opposition parties. Instead of running the House properly, the Deputy Speaker was adjourning the House every day, he lamented.

The CPI deputy floor leader, Mr K. Sambasiva Rao, speaking along with his party MLA, Ms Chandravathi, has demanded that the government appoint JLC to conduct a thorough inquiry into the land allotments in the State in the name of SEZs and Industries. He said that nothing will happen with the debate on land allotment in the House.

He also warned the government that they would launch mass agitations if it failed to build houses as promised. (NSS)
