Was failure in love the cause for the death of research scholar of BITS Pilani? Police suspect that this could be the reason behind the suicide of Thimmappa Manjushetty, who jumped to death from the third floor of Buddha Bhavan hostel on the campus.
Thimmappa was found dead under mysterious circumstances near his hostel block on Thursday. The 30-year-old research scholar in pharmacy was staying in room No 116 of Budha Bhavan block on the BITS Pilani campus on the city outskirts.
J. Pushpan Kumar, Alwal police inspector, said on Friday that the police team investigating found that Thimmappa had a love affair with his junior. She got married to another person three months back.
Thimmappa was a native of Alibeluru in Karnataka.
He was pursuing his Ph.D in pharmacy and joined the institute in 2008. He was about to complete his thesis in the next couple of months.
Police said Thimmappa was in a state of depression and was addicted to alcohol.
