Hyderabad: irrespective of political affiliations, the Madiga MPs and MLAs on Sunday resolved to unitedly work and lobby at Delhi level for categorization of SCs.
The meeting of Madiga elected representatives chaired by the MRPS founder-president, Mr Manda Krishna Madiga, was held at Minerva Grand Hotel, Secunderabad.
Speaking at the meeting, the Congress MP, Mr Manda Jagannadham, said that the Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr Mukul Wasnik, was working against classification of SCs. Though the AICC president, Ms Sonia Gandhi, was in favor of SC categorization, the Madiga leaders have failed to lobby at Delhi level to make it possible, he opined. The Centre would come down on SC classification, if the Madigas lay siege to Hyderabad City, he added.
The Congress MP, Mr Rajaiah, said that the fruits of reservations were not reaching all the sub-castes of Dalits. “We should bring the SC classification issue to the notice of Ms Sonia Gandhi.
The Congress MP, Mr Surve Satyanarayana, exuded confidence that Ms Sonia Gandhi would not go back on the issues of Telangana Statehood and SC Classification.
Mr Manda Krishna Madiga has warned that the Congress would become first enemy of the Madigas, if the SC classification was not done. He suspected that a conspiracy was being hatched to ‘dilute or suppress’ the agitation of Madigas for SC classification. At this juncture, we should intensify the agitation and bring pressure on the Union government at the Centre and in the State.
The meeting also discussed the schedule to meet the Prime Minister, leaders of all parties at the Centre and Ms Sonia Gandhi to make representations on SC classification. They also planned to meet Ms Sonia Gandhi on June 8 in New Delhi, if they get appointment. Otherwise, the Madiga Congress MPs from Telangana would bring the matter to her notice when they meet her on Telangana issue.
The Congress MLAs, Ms Kamalamma, Mr K Sridhar, and Mr T Rajaiah, the TDP MLAs — Mr Mothkupalli Narsimhulu, Mr T Ramulu, Mr T V Rama Rao, Ms Hemalatha, Mr K S Ratnam, Mr G Venkata Veeraiah, Mr A Mohan, Mr Lingaiah, the TRS MLAs, Mr T Rajaiah and Mr N Odelu, the former MLA, Mr Vedasu Venkaiah and others attended the meeting.
