Mahilla Satta Pleads For Women’s Comission

Hyderabad:The Mahila Satta, women’s wing of the Lok Satta Party, today appealed to Governor E. S. L. Narasimhan to ensure that the Government constitutes the State Women’s Commission without further delay.

A Mahila Satta delegation told the Governor that the Government had not constituted the commission for the last four years. As a result, women facing violation of their rights are finding it difficult to get justice.

The delegation, which called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan, comprised K. Gita Murthy, D. Lakshmi, G. Ramadevi, T. Padmajarani, S. Gajanani, and P. Bhavani.

The Women’s Commission members, said the Lok Satta, should be apolitical and have some legal or service background. The commission should have full-fledged staff. It should open a 24-hour toll-free help line for women. (NSS)
