Man with two swords held in old city

Hyderabad: A person possessing two swords was nabbed by the sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone Team on Wednesday. On a tip-off, the cops rushed and apprehended Shaik Mohammed Akbar and seized two hand swords from his possession.

Police said that the accused Shaik Mohammed Akbar, 25, is a resident of Aman Nagar (B), Talab Katta, Bhavani Nagar. He was taken into custody near Hidayath Function Hall, Aman Nagar and two hand swords were recovered from his possession.

The accused told the police that in 2005, he went to Dubai on house-keeping work and returned after six months due to ill-health. He said that while returning, he brought two hand swords in Dubai and kept them in his house. In March last year, he along with a rowdy-sheet involved in a criminal case of tresspass, house-breaking at Feel Khana and was arrested by the Shahinayath Gunj Police.

After release on bail, he was anticipating danger to his life from his rivals, he started keeping one sword with him for self-defence whenever he came out. As he needed money, he wanted to dispose of another hand-sword on Wednesday and came to Hidayath Function Hall in search of prospective customers, but was apprehended by the police.

According to his past history, he was involved in a trespass/House-breaking case in the limits of PS Shahinayath Gunj, with the rowdy sheeter Awad Bin Abood of PS Bhavani Nagar and was sent to jail. He was being handed over to Bhavani Nagar Police Station for taking necessary action.

The arrest was made under the supervision of Mr M. Sreenivas, Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police, Task Force, Hyd. City, by Mr S. Mohan Kumar, Inspector of Police, South Zone Task Force, with the assistance of staff of South Zone Task Force team. (NSS)
