Manohar to be elected speaker, Damodar to be DY. CM

Hyderabad: The Deputy Speaker, Mr Nadendla Manohar, resigned to the post on Thursday as the party High Command reportedly decided to elevate him as Speaker in view of his efficient functioning.

It is learnt that the Governor may appoint the senior member and former minister, Mr J C Diwakar Reddy as the Protem Speaker to facilitate Speaker’s election. It is also learnt that the party has decided to appoint Mr Bhatti Vikramarka as the Deputy Speaker.

Informed sources said that the name of Dr Chakrapani, who was nominated to the Council was finalized for the post of Chairman of the Upper House for another term. Reports also said that the IT minister, Mr Ponnala Lakshmaiah, would be appointed PCC Chief and Mr Damodara Rajanarasimha as Deputy Chief Minister.

The Civil Supplies Minister, Mr D. Sridhar Babu, has appealed to all political parties to ensure that the Speaker’s election was unanimous as per tradition.

The Congress High Command has reportedly decided to cleanse the cabinet totally.
