Mayor sanctions Rs 10 Lakh for mosques, graveyards

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has sanctioned Rs 10 lakh for repair works in graveyards and mosques in view of the forthcoming Holy Nights of Shab-e-Meraj and Shab-e-Baraat.

Mayor Banda Kartika Reddy said that the sanctioned amount would be used to take up repair works on High-Mast lights, Mini Mast lights, sanitation in and around mosques and graveyards. Temporary lighting would also be provided in some graveyards and mosques, the Mayor said.

Addressing a Press Conference in her Chambers on Thursday, Ms Karthika Reddy, along with Deputy Mayor Jaffar Hussain and other Corporators told media persons that the GHMC is making all necessary arrangements to the convenience of around 15 lakh population for offering their prayers. She also said that GHMC will consider any specific request made for the occasion.

Earlier, the Mayor held a meeting with Chief Engineer R Dhan Singh, AC (Health and Sanitation S Aleem Basha and AC (Electrical) D Jayaraj Kennedy, for making necessary arrangements in and around Mosques and Grave Yards.(INN)
