The MIM (Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen) decision to withdraw support to Congress in the state and UPA at the centre will reportedly not have any impact o GHMC Mayor Mr. Majid Hussain, who is belongs to MIM Party.
He would continue as GHMC Mayor Hyderabad till term of the general body expires, that is after about two more years. Majid Hussain was elected as the Mayor unanimously on January 3rd this year. If Congress wants to remove the mayor through a no confidence motion, it cannot do so as per 91-A section of the GHMC Act 2005, which says not notice of motion under this section shall be made within three years of the date of assumption of office by the person against who the motion is sought to be moved.
As per agreement between Congress and MIM, for the first two years, the Mayor;s post will be held by Congress and Deputy Mayor’s post by MIM and the vice-versa in the next two years.
MIM President Asaduddin Owais at press conference on Monday said that as per the agreement, Majid Hussain will continue as Mayor.
