Hyderabad: The Minister for Civil Supplies, Mr D Sridhar Babu on Saturday said that Adhar Cards were yet to be issued to 15 lakh people in the State and the process was continuing.
The Minister made a surprise visit to Adhar Centre near MCH Ward Office in Domalguda and inspected the arrangements for issuance of Adhar Cards.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sridhar Babu said that the State Government has taken all the necessary steps to avoid lapses in the issuance of Adhar cards. He reminded that Adhar Crads were multi-purpose cards that would be useful in getting the benefits of welfare schemes. The District Collectors have been already directed not to give scope for middlemen in the issuance of cards in any way, he added.
Reminding that the Government has taken steps to purchase the damaged paddy from the farmers in the rain hit areas, he claimed that not a single farmer has complained that their damaged paddy was not purchased by the government agencies like FCI, Civil Supplies department and through IKP paddy purchasing centres.
He assured that measures would be taken to ensure minimum support price to the paddy in the coming Rabi season also. It was estimated that the crop production of Rabi season would be 90 lakh metric tons, he added. The officials concerned have been directed to vacate the stocks in the godowns and create necessary storage space for Rabi crop, he added.
The Minister also inquired how the Adhar card issuance programme was going on at the Centre, and if any specific problems were being faced by the people in the matter. (NSS)
