Minorities ignored in AP: Naidu

Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam president, Mr Chandrababu Naidu, said on Saturday that the Congress had ignored the welfare of minorities. For the sake of elections, the party had promised five per cent reservations in employment and education but the High Court had struck down the reservations thrice, he said.

The TD also demanded that the Centre implement the recommendations of the Sachar Committee and Justice Ranganath Mishra Commission to improve the lot of minorities, provide 5 per cent of the budget allocation to minorities annually, give free education from primary to college level, provide financial assistance ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 1 lakh to them through Minorities Finance Corporation, grant of Rs 50,000 to Rs 5 lakh for construction of masjids and other places of worship and fill all vacant posts among others.
