MLC Elections Peacefull

Hyderabad: The State Election Commissioner, Mr Bhanwarlal has said that elections to the Teachers and Graduates constituencies of the Legislative Council held on Sunday concluded peacefully all over the State. The counting of votes will be taken up on March 15 from 8 am.

Talking to media persons this evening, Mr Bhanwarlal said that arrangements for counting of votes and declaration of results of the North Andhra region have been made in Visakhapatnam. He said that 47.23 per cent of polling was registered in Vizianagaram-Visakhapatnam-Srikakulam Graduates constituency, Prakasam-Chittoor-Nellore Graduates constituency registered 52.77 per cent, and in the Teachers constituency it was 67.37 per cent, he added.

The SEC also said that polling in Anantapur-Kurnool-Kadapa Graduates constituency was 39.60per cent and the polling for Teachers constituency was 87.76 per cent. The counting of votes in the constituency will be taken up in Anantapur, he added. He said that percentage of polling in Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy-Mahbubnagar Teachers constituency was 78.88.

Mr Bhanwarlal said that there were no complaints of any nature in connection with the polling anywhere in the State and there were also no complaints of poll code violations from anywhere. He also disclosed that the local MP, Ms Botcha Jhansi had not registered herself as a voter. (NSS)
