N. Nageswara Rao Demands Action On Sakshi Paper & Channel

Hyderabad: TDP leader Mr. Nama Nageswara Rao has urged the Election Commission to take action against Sakshi newspaper and Sakshi channel owned by Mr. Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for giving false news to boost the prospects of his party YSR Congress in the by-elections.

Talking to the media after submitting a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Bhanvarlal, he said he has urged the CEO to treat the news as paid news and take action under the Cable Network and Print Media Acts. He has also said that several booths in the district recorded ninety percent votes to the Congress and as such his party had asked the EC to install CC cameras in all such booths. Stating that money was flowing like water in the by elections, he said he had urged the CEC to curb the influence of money and power in the elections. Nageswara Rao said the CEC had responded positively to their request and assured to send special teams to the district. Likewise, he said the had also positively responded to his request of providing protection to the polling agents of the opposition parties.

Stating that the elections were not free and fair in Kadapa even during 2009, he said if they were, TDP would have won there. He said even now, both the Congress and the YSR Congress were resorting to irregular methods to win the elections. He said as there were possibilities of large scale rigging, he has asked the EC to curb it through effective means. (NSS)
