Hyderabad: The TRS isn’t too impressed by the Telugu Desam MLAs’ decision to quit their seats to press for a separate Telangana. They would much rather see the party chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, come out openly in support of Telangana. In another development, the Telangana Telugu Desam Forum, which announced its decision to resign on July 4 immediately after Telangana Congress Ministers, MPs, MLAs and MLCs, are now in a fix.
“We certainly welcome the TD forum’s decision to resign. But it will have little or no impact. The Congress decision will carry weight. TD leaders should now ensure that Mr Naidu supports Telangana and sends a letter to Mr Chidambaram,” Mr T. Harish Rao, Deputy Floor Leader, TRS said. Mr Harish Rao said resignations by Congress-elected representatives would play a key role in achieving Telangana. “We welcome the Congress decision. But TD MLAs have to do more. They have to convince their party leader to write a letter to the Centre, expressing their support. Only then would people believe that the TD means what it says,” he added. Sources said Mr Naidu, was closeted with senior party leaders, discussing the new development on the Telangana front. Deccan Chronicle
