Hyderabad: BJP senior leader Mr Nallu Indrasena Reddy has took the State Government to task for failure to ensure procurement of paddy from the farmers and remunerative price, and also providing the inputs to them to raise fresh crops.
Speaking to the media here today, Mr Reddy deplored that the Chief Minister and the ministers were making loud announcements, but doing nothing to set things right and render justice to the farmers. He alleged that the Government, which is claiming itself as ‘farrner-friendly’ is actually adopting anti-farmer policies.
He regretted that the farmers who toiled hard, were not getting remunerative price for their produce, and there were nobody to purchase the stocks even if they were prepared to resort to distress sale—at rates much lower than the MSP. For want of money, the farmers were not in a position to take up fresh crops. It was a pity that the farmers were forced to burn the paddy stocks on the roads.
He said that though the fresh crop season is on, the Government did not plan ahead to ensure supply of seeds, fertilizers, etc on time to the farmers; and all the family members of the farmers were forced to stand in serpentine queues in the hot sun to get seeds and fertilizers. He demanded the Ministers to stop making statements, but concentrate on practical measures to ensure that the farmers got remunerative price for the produce and inputs for the fresh season.
