Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam Party president, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, has extended his solidarity with the State secretary of the CPI (M), Mr Raghavulu, who was on indefinite hunger strike demanding the resolution of some 50 demands concerning various sections of the people in the State.
Speaking to the media after calling on Mr Raghavulu at Indira Park here on Friday morning, Mr Chandrababu said all the 50 demands were justifiable and the State government was bound to address all of them. Referring to the dismal state of farmers in the State, he said that they were severely hit by the untimely rains in the State and demanded that the State government provide succor to them as they have no other alternative except agriculture. About 70 per cent of farmers in the State were tenant farmers and they were suffering hardships due to the lack of availability of credit on time from banks, he added.
Mr Chandrababu demanded that the State government provide house pattas for the poor as it promised earlier. Pointing out to the tribals issue, he demanded for the implementation of the Forest Rights Act in letter and spirit and for the enactment of a special act for a nodal agency in the SC, ST sub-plan. He said that the State government should provide basic amenities for Dalit and tribal people. He also demanded for the scrapping of the contract labour system in all government establishment.
Referring to the illegal mining leases, he said that the Obulapuram mines should be bestowed to the Vizag Steel plant. (NSS)
