Hyderabad: The Hanlooms & Textiles Minister, Dr P Shanker Rao, on Tuesday said that works of laying of 16-km drainage pipeline covering five constituencies in Secunderabad would begin on Wednesday and completed within six months.
Speaking to mediapersons in the Secretariat, Dr Shanker Rao said that the new drainage pipeline would cover Sanathnagar, Kukatpally, Cantonment, Bowenpally Assembly constituencies. The new pipeline would benefit some 50 lakh people living in 200 slums in these areas. He also reminded that the drainage was overflowing in these areas during rainfall. The new pipeline would improve the sanitation in 200 slums in the area, he added.
The minister announced that the works of the pipeline would be launched at Bollaram at 10 am. It was taken up with Rs 53 crores. It was targeted to complete the works within six months, he added. He also said that he has complained to the Defence Minister against the Cantonment Board members, who were involved in irregularities and corrupt deals.
Responding to a question on the new PCC Chief, Dr Shanker Rao made it clear that he was loyal to the party and would not comment on the decision of Ms Sonia Gandhi in appointing Mr Botcha Satyanarayana as PCC president. In fact, earlier there was a tradition, when Chief Minister post went to Seemandhra, Telangana candidates were appointed PCC chief.
