The National Investigation Agency, which filed a supplementary chargesheet against Swami Aseemanand alias Nabakumar Sarkar in the Macca Masjid blast case, named top RSS leader Indresh Kumar as the co-conspirator for funding the blasts.

The supplementary chargesheet has been filed in the fourth additional metropolitan sessions judge-cum-special court for NIA cases at Nampally. The NIA has filed the chargesheet before the mandatory period of 180 days. The blast that took place on May 18, 2007, had claimed the lives of nine persons and 58 others were injured.

Aseemanand is the head of the Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram of Dang district in Gujarat. NIA alleged that Aseemanand had coined the slogan ‘Bomb ka jawab bomb se dena.” He had also harboured Sunil Joshi and others after the terror attack, NIA said. It said all the accused who had come in contact with each other after 2003, were angered by the spate of terror attacks on Hindu temples and Hindus in India by the jihadis with cross-border support.

Between 2005 and 2007, they plotted to avenge the attacks by committing terror acts on Muslim places of worship and other densely populated areas. The accused contacted, communicated, transported, met, planned, prepared and facilitated each other. DC
