Hyderabad: The National Investigation Agency is now probing the role of the Indian Mujahideen terror suspect Danish Riyaz, a city techie, who was arrested from Toli Chowki in the city recently, and his friend Manzar Imamuddin, in the Mumbai triple blast.

Ranchi and Hyderabad are becoming the focus of the investigation in the Mumbai blasts. The National Investigation Agency Hyderabad unit, led by the additional superintendent of police, Mr V.V.S. Murthy, raided the houses of Danish Riyaz and Manzar in Ranchi in Jharkhand on Friday. The NIA is probing whether the IM made the bombs in Ranchi and used them in Mumbai.

Top police sources said, “On June 23, a bomb with IED was found in a fish tank near the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in Joda Talab area in Ranchi. A fisherman who found the bomb in an iron case in a bag in the pond which belongs to the Baraitu Masjid Committee, alerted the police. At the time, everyone suspected the Maoists.” On June 21, 2011, Riyaz was arrested in Vadodra in connection with the 2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts. Riyaz and Manzar, natives of Joda Talab in Ranchi, Jharkhand, are believed to be former SIMI activists. Deccan Chronicle
