APCC general secretary G Niranjan has alleged that the photo with news report published in “Hindu” in connection with Bhagyalaxmi Temple at Charminar is totally false, fabricated, misguiding and distorting the truth. He felt that no son of the soil of Hyderabad would believe this motivated news item.

In a pressnote here on Wednesday, Niranjan stated that Charminar has places of worship of both the communities for centuries and sending message to the entire world about rich secular traditions of the Gangajamuni Tehzeeb of Hyderabad City through the tourists visiting from all corners of the world.

Niranjan said that the reporter concerned tried to rewrite the history ofHyderabadwithout knowing the history of theTempleand verifying the facts with natives ofHyderabadand respecting their sentiments. No one can deny the existence of Matha idol in a small ‘Shilakaram’ and worshipped by all.

“It is surprising that the reporter of the news item came to his own conclusion on the basis of a photo that the temple was a few decades old, whereas the High Court, in its order dated November 5 mentioned that there was no dispute that the temple was there for a long period. The authenticity of the photo itself is doubtful depending on which he tried to rewrite the history ofHyderabad.

The PCC leader alleged that the reporter should have talked to aged persons ofHyderabadto ascertain the history of the temple and should have gone inside the temple to see the original Matha’s Shilakaram which was damaged in 1979 incidents after the Kaaba incident. The present structure was made at the initiative of the government to protect the temple from such incidents in future. (NSS)
