Hyderabad: Questioning as to how many nights the Union Minister Mr P Chidambaram needed to make an announcement on Telangana issue, the PCC general secretary Mr G Niranjan has said that the former’s statement was clearly aimed at weakening the movement. He demanded the Chief Minister Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy, TDP Chief Mr N Chandrababu Naidu and other parties’ leaders to announce that they will obey the Centre’s decision on Telangana whatever it might be.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Wednesday, Mr Niranjan has said that the Telangana people were aware of the fact that Telangana will not be created in a single night. The people will not forgive if the Centre failed to recognize their wishes and aspirations, he said. Finding fault with Mr Chidambaram for his intolerance at journalists’ questions, Mr Niranjan asked as to how long Telangana people have to wait with tolerance, when they were already waiting for the last five and half decades for the sake of Telangana. People will not keep quiet anymore; he said and asked as to how they could maintain restraint further.

Where is the need for Mr Chidambaram to examine the Justice Srikrishna Committee’s report when it has no Constitutional status, he asked and said that it was nothing but wasting time. Finding fault with the Chief Minister, the PCC general secretary said that there was no link between ‘Rachchabanda’ and Telangana issue and it was not proper for the Chief Minister to say that the ‘Rachchabanda’ programme was held successfully in Telangana region. He demanded all the parties to convey in one voice the feelings of people of Telangana, when the Home Minister invited them for the Delhi all- party meeting. (NSS)
